Chapter 415: Victory and hopelessness
The death of the Special Unit Leviathan was the straw that broke the camel’s back, marking the beginning of the end for what remained of the Leviathan swarm in Kuro Mountain. Freya and Ouroboros felt potent streams of Origin Force entering their bodies—a reward from the Plane Will upon bringing death to such formidable aliens. As that powerful energy coursed through their bodies and souls, they lifted their eyes upward, determination blazing in their gazes.
"Charge!"
"Attack!"
The Viking princess and the Depravita of Greed roared as they led the Lords of Horror upward, butchering every single Leviathan in their path. Their weapons moved with lethal precision, each strike felling an enemy. The drones, aerial units, and insect-humanoid hybrids found themselves in an impossible position, even for the hive mind’s capabilities.
Vlad, the Golden Wave Legion, Shadowstrike Legion, and Turkin riders marched from above, while Freya, Ouroboros, and the Lords of Horror attacked below. Trapped between these two relentless forces, the Leviathans had nowhere to escape.
No matter how angry or enraged it was by the outcome, the hive mind had to accept it could not emerge victorious in this fight. It was bound to be a catastrophic loss. Not to mention, any form of retreat was hindered by the group advancing from the mountain base.
In the end, the eyes of all the Leviathans glowed with what could only be described as a suicidal frenzy. They began to strike with everything they had, trying to take down as many human forces as possible before they were completely wiped out. There were still nearly four hundred thousand Leviathans, and even if they were almost all drones, given their ferocity, there were bound to be casualties among the human forces before the fight ended.
Or at least, that was what the hive mind expected.
Vlad stood atop a jagged outcrop, his crimson eyes surveying the chaotic battlefield. Channeling the last stream of Depravita Aura into his fist, he raised it high before bringing it down upon the ground with a thunderous impact.
"Let this be the end!" he roared.
The earth responded to his command. The next second, massive magma hands erupted from the ground among the clusters of Leviathans. Each colossal hand reached skyward, molten fingers closing around swarms of drones. The intense heat incinerated more than one hundred thousand of them in a single, swift move. Scorching shockwaves radiated outward, toppling nearby Leviathans and shattering their formations. Any semblance of coordination they had was obliterated.
