Beyond the Apocalypse

Chapter 281: Warzone (I)

As Vlad and Lamorto clashed with overwhelming ferocity, their strikes reverberating through the battlefield like thunder, the rest of the warzone devolved into brutal carnage. From the front lines, the three hundred Champions, accompanied by Jormungandr, carved through the demonic horde with relentless precision and terrifying efficiency.

The Champions moved as a cohesive unit, their massive swords cleaving through demon after demon with brutal strength. Every slash severed limbs, split torsos, and sent fountains of dark blood spraying into the air. The ground beneath them became slick with gore as they advanced, their shields raised to batter back any attempt by the demonic beasts to break their formation. The sheer force behind their shields crushed skulls and shattered bones, reducing any demon foolish enough to approach into broken heaps.

Spearmen and archers provided flawless support from behind the front line. The spearmen’s long, gleaming weapons pierced through multiple demons at once, their aim impeccable, while the archers rained arrows down with such deadly precision that each shot found its mark in a demon’s eye, throat, or heart.

The contribution of these support units was immense. They allowed the battle formation to remain tight and cohesive, permitting the vanguard to focus solely on the enemies ahead, greatly improving their efficiency.

Further back, the Mages were also doing their part, and the number of demons they killed was staggering. Their chants echoed in unison, the ground beneath the demonic horde erupting with spikes of jagged stone that impaled dozens of demons at a time.

However, earth wasn’t the only type of magic being used. Some of the Mages focused their power on the farther reaches of the incoming horde. Flames spiraled from their hands, scorching through even the toughest of demon hides, while blasts of wind sent groups of demons flying into the air, their bodies breaking upon impact with the earth.

The battle was a display of destruction, and the soldiers of the Xaos Kingdom demonstrated skill and precision beyond human capability. Each movement was practiced, and every attack was calculated, showing the extraordinary level of their training.

There was no mercy. Demons fell by the hundreds, their corpses piling high as the Champions and their forces advanced, inch by bloody inch, through the seemingly endless tide of beasts.

Jormungandr, though drained from his earlier Lightning Tsunami, remained an unstoppable force on the battlefield. His paws crackled with lightning, each strike sending demonic bodies flying in pieces. The small yellow cat moved with the precision of a general, leading the charge of the Champions as they pushed forward at an alarming speed, forcing the demon horde to react to them.

Since they were advancing so rapidly, the risk of gaps forming in their battle formation was present. At one point, a massive wolf-like demon managed to slip past a shield bearer and lunged toward an archer in the back ranks.

The Xaos soldier’s eyes widened in shock as the demon lunged at him, jaws wide open, but before it could strike, an arc of lightning shot through the air, striking the demon and blasting it into charred pieces.
