Chapter 95: Runic Sets (I)
Vlad was currently in his private residence. He no longer lived in a barrack, as it would not be fit for a King. Instead, he had moved to the high tower in the center of the Silent Wind Military Base, which had been the control center and was now his home.
From this place, Vlad could see the entire Silent Wind Military Base, and even more importantly, everyone on the base could gaze at him. Every time a man, woman, or child stared at the tower, they knew a powerful individual was watching over them. That would bring peace to their daily lives and increase Vlad’s stance in their hearts and minds.
The young man was not alone in the tower. Jormungandr perched on his shoulder, and in front of him stood Mirena, Cazan, Clasius, Roman, Frank, and Amara. All the members of his inner circle had gathered, along with a small white dog.
Vlad glanced at Oro, the small white dog in Cazan’s hands, unsure whether to laugh or cry. During the last month, Cazan had been entirely focused on his training, leaving the dog in the care of the civilian children. Now that they were reunited, the small white dog refused to leave Cazan’s side, and the man did not have the heart to push him away, so when Vlad summoned him, he also brought Oro.
’Ah, whatever. I guess I should start to consider that little scoundrel part of the inner circle by this point,’ Vlad thought, almost laughing at the idea but quickly focusing on the six soldiers before him.
Each of the six had been instrumental in the fight against the high demonic horde. While Vlad and Jormungandr had borne the heaviest burden, the other six tackled several powerful Champions, allowing the rest of the soldiers to handle the demonic beasts. Had they not shown their incredible power and teamwork, many more people would have died, and the Silent Wind Military Base might not have survived.
"You have all done a great job, showing immense power and bravery during the clash against the high demonic horde," Vlad’s voice was solemn, indicating the importance of this event. "Every good deed deserves a reward, and there is no better reward than power."
The eyes of the soldiers of the inner circle glowed with excitement as they heard those words. Vlad’s abilities were beyond their realm of understanding, and he seemed capable of granting miraculous gifts, so they couldn’t help but wonder what type of reward he would give them.
"I have recently come into the possession of objects that will allow me to grant each of you a Runic Set," Vlad noticed the flash of confusion in their eyes and began to explain.
"As you all know, runes can grant all sorts of abilities, such as Amara’s cloaking power that she used during the fight to kill the Champion demon, but a Runic Set is much more than that. It is a collection of interconnected runes inscribed on a person’s body, designed to work in synergy. That harmonization ensures that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual parts, and their enhancement can match that of a bloodline."
Shock overcame the group as they heard this. They knew that part of the reason Vlad and Jormungandr were so powerful was their bloodlines, and if the Runic Set could match that, their abilities would increase exponentially.
