Beyond the Apocalypse

Chapter 70: Fighting the Abyssal (I)

The Abyssal’s body began to glow red as fire embers covered his skin, generating scorching heat that ablaze the ground beneath his feet. Vlad’s eyes widened as he realized that the demon was about to use that flame skill, making it very easy for him to strike.

’Dodging would not work. Trying to run will be useless as the Abysal is faster. I can neither hide as his perception is too powerful.’ All sorts of thoughts raced through Vlad’s mind as the threat of death pushed his cognitive abilities to their limit. As he searched for a way to survive, a sharp light appeared in his eyes, and his second space ring glowed, making a metallic sphere appear in his hand.

Vlad threw the metallic sphere toward the Abyssal, but the demon only smiled as he shattered it with his club, ready to jump the next second. However, a massive explosion occurred when the sphere broke into pieces, covering dozens of meters in fire.

"Boom!"

That metallic sphere was one of the many things that Vlad found inside Ion’s space ring. It was an artifact that generated a massive blaze, filling a large area with flames that could scorch Mortal-level creatures. It was more of a crowd control tool and not meant for facing powerful enemies, but it could be very useful to hinder the sight of a powerful enemy and allow you to escape.

"Roar!"

A feral roar emerged from the Abyssal as he waved his massive club in every direction, generating waves of dark energy that dispersed the flames around him. Although the sphere’s detonation occurred less than a meter from his face, he was perfectly fine, proving just how strong and tenacious his body was.

The Abyssal’s eyes were full of rage as he looked around him, trying to figure out in which direction the tiny human had run away. He could not help but frown as he looked north, south, west, and east, yet he detected nothing.

"My detection skill is failing!" The Abyssal demon spoke in a coarse and rough voice, his tone full of doubt and uncertainty. Yet suddenly, a flash of light appeared in his eyes as he remembered there was still one direction he had not focused on.

"Up!" The Abyssal shouted as he turned his gaze upward toward the zenith of the trees. Only to see a figure flashing down with immense momentum, burying a white sword in his right shoulder before he could do anything.
