Chapter 84: Nexian’s Domain
"Right, I’m done for the day," Matthew said as he handed Dr. Muni the stack of papers. As always, the man didn’t look pleased, he barely looked up. What a villain, Matthew thought.
"One hour isn’t done yet. You still have seven minutes," Dr. Muni replied, motioning toward the remaining documents.
Matthew rolled his eyes and said nothing. He placed the papers on the desk and reached for another batch. Just as his fingers brushed the edge of the stack, Dr. Muni grabbed his wrist.
Matthew frowned. He tried to pull back, but the old man’s grip didn’t loosen.
"What are you doing?" Matthew asked.
The ghost girl floated closer, her brows drawn. "Something’s weird about him. How is he so strong? Isn’t he just an old man?" she hovered around Dr. Muni. "However, he doesn’t smell like a Nexian at all. Actually... I can’t sense anything from him at all. He should be completely normal, right?"
Matthew stilled. Why is the ghost asking her about this? The Dr. Muni that he knew from his past life was just as secretive as the one in this life. However, at least he never treated Lenox like some calculator.
He forced himself to stay calm. What could an old man possibly do to him? "Dr. Muni, What are you doing?" he asked more firmly.
Dr. Muni didn’t answer. He released Matthew’s wrist and returned to his notes. "Finish what you can and come back tomorrow."
Matthew narrowed his eyes but didn’t press further. He grabbed the next stack and got to work.
Time dragged. The equations weren’t complicated, but there were a lot of them. He worked in silence, glancing at the clock only twice. When he finally reached the bottom of the pile, he straightened and stepped away from the desk.
