Chapter 82: Certified Eavesdropper
"Why the hell would you— damn it! What the hell was that strength, Matthew?" Adam snapped.
"I was surprised," Matthew said with a smirk, eyeing Adam, who was now cradling his hand. "It’s not my fault you’re that weak. And it didn’t break."
He glared at him. "I was calling your name."
Matthew had been too busy talking to the ghost, he hadn’t even noticed Adam’s voice. "Thought you were going to swing at me," he said, smile still in place. "So... what do you want?"
"Follow me," Adam said, turning sharply and heading down the hall. When he realized Matthew wasn’t moving, he stopped and looked over his shoulder. "I said follow me."
"Why would I?" Matthew asked, glancing around. A few students were nearby. "Why can’t we talk here?"
Adam let out a long sigh. "Just follow me, will you?"
"This guy’s definitely up to something sketchy," the ghost muttered. "You should go. Might be fun."
Matthew rolled his eyes but followed, anyway. Adam led him to a quiet corner of the school. One glance was all it took—no cameras, no students. A perfect blind spot.
"What is it?" Matthew asked. "You’re not planning to kill me, are you?"
"You need to help Dean," Adam said, ignoring his question.
