Chapter 284 - 284: Alien Beasts Tide (7)
The division of labor was clear and straightforward. The Earth Element ability users were tasked with fortifying the second wall, while the remaining ability users headed to the third wall alongside the gun squad to stall for time.
Baoyin was among those reinforcing the wall, and her performance left the other earth-type ability users stunned.
Under her control, the section she handled rose and solidified at astonishing speed. Soil compressed tightly. Rubble fused together. The wall became visibly thicker and sturdier within minutes.
"Sister, what level are you?" an earth-type female ability user asked in shock.
"Just Level Two! Sister, focus. Otherwise, we won't have food later!" Baoyin replied without looking up.
"What?" The female ability user blinked, unsure if she had heard correctly.
"Food will be provided later too?" Several nearby survivors perked up immediately.
"Of course. How can we continue reinforcing walls on an empty stomach?" Baoyin raised her eyebrows matter-of-factly.
It was as if someone had injected them with stimulants.
The earth and metal ability users began increasing the output of their powers, pushing themselves harder than before. They worked until their reserves dropped to about a quarter, then sat down briefly to recover before returning to reinforce the wall again.
In just one hour, one entire side of the second wall had been reinforced.
It finally looked solid and dependable instead of like a pile of debris.
Baoyin wiped the sweat from her forehead, eyes shining with excitement.
At this rate, she might even get the chance to join the battle later.
Meanwhile, on the third wall, Lin Weihao was locked in combat with a Tier 3 metal-type alien beast.
Although they were at the same tier, lightning naturally restrained metal. Weihao's ability suppressed the beast's attacks effectively. Every time the alien beast attempted to release metal spikes, crackling lightning dispersed and destabilized them.
Not far away, Nanzhi was fighting several Tier 3 wind-type alien beasts.
Wind-type beasts were extremely agile. Before Nanzhi intervened, they had nearly slaughtered several survivors on the wall with razor-sharp wind blades.
Fortunately, Little Snowball poked its head out from Nanzhi's backpack and shot out sticky white webs. The threads wrapped tightly around the wind-type beasts' limbs, limiting their mobility.
Mental power condensed sharply.
Invisible nails pierced straight into their skulls.

"Good job, Little Snowball!"
"Chi chi!" Little Snowball squeaked proudly before releasing more threads to collect the fallen alien beasts' cores.
One of the gun squad members, who had nearly been sliced apart by a wind blade earlier, stared wide-eyed.
"What was that? I saw something white hit the alien beasts."
His companion smacked the back of his head. "You almost got cut in half by a wind blade, genius! Focus!"
At that exact moment, a wood-type alien beast launched a barrage of wooden thorns toward them.
The same companion yanked him aside just in time.
The thorns embedded into the wall with dull thuds.
That was a brutal wake-up call.
The gun squad members immediately became more cautious. After nearly losing a few of their own, they tightened their formation and paid closer attention to their surroundings.
Another half and an hour passed.
The battle raged on without pause.
Gradually, the strain began to show.
Most of the survivors were only Tier 1. The strongest among them were merely early-stage Tier 2. Continuous combat inevitably drained their energy.
Their movements became sluggish.
Their reactions slowed.
Some failed to dodge in time and were nearly torn apart.
Nanzhi and her group stepped in repeatedly, saving them at the last possible second.
Seeing the worsening condition of the survivors, Nanzhi discreetly used her backpack as cover and took out several drums of ethanol she had collected earlier from the gas station on Heyuan Road.
She controlled the drums mentally and guided them toward an area where alien beasts were densely packed and no survivors were present.
"Feng Ran!" she called.
He instantly understood.
A fireball shot from his palm and collided with the ethanol.
Boom!
Flames erupted in a wide fan shape, forming a temporary wall of fire.
The advancing alien beasts shrieked as their fur and flesh ignited. The sudden blaze forced them back and bought precious time for the exhausted survivors to retreat toward the ladders.
Nanzhi and her group guarded the retreat, killing any alien beasts that tried to chase the survivors climbing back up.

Wang Bo had nearly exhausted his strength and retreated to the inner side of the wall. Liu Ming and Luo Gang followed closely behind him, both breathing heavily.
They looked at Lin Weihao and Nanzhi in disbelief.
Neither of them showed obvious signs of fatigue.
Just what level were they?
How could their ability reserves be so deep?
Another half an hour passed.
Lin Weihao swung his blade, decapitating two Tier 3 earth-type alien beasts in one clean motion. He absorbed their spars directly, feeling more than half of his energy still remaining.
Through the intercom, he said calmly, "Help me with something."
He retrieved the large drums he had previously asked Nanzhi to prepare.
"Alright, Your Lightning Highness," Nanzhi replied with a grin.
Weihao chuckled at the nickname.
Nanzhi controlled the drums filled with dirty water from the crystal water facility and hurled them into the densest cluster of alien beasts, making sure no survivors were within range. Then she climbed halfway up the wooden ladder. Feng Ran and Bingwen climbed after her.
Weihao joined them.
Standing on the ladder, he raised his hand.
Thick bolts of lightning spread outward, forming a massive electric net that surged across the water-soaked ground.
Zzzzz!
Electricity traveled instantly through the water.
Hundreds of alien beasts convulsed violently.
Piercing screams filled the battlefield as their flesh charred and smoke rose into the air.
Nanzhi's eyes lit up.
Seizing the opportunity, she controlled her machetes once more.
Blades flashed like the scythes of a grim reaper.
Heads fell in rapid succession.
Her EXP skyrocketed.

Little Snowball sensed the surge of spars and squeaked excitedly.
"Chi chi!"
It released more than a dozen threads at once, collecting cores at incredible speed.
Lin Weihao's ability was truly perfect for large-scale area attacks and crowd control, Nanzhi thought inwardly.
On the wall, the ability users and gun squad members stared in awe at the sight of hundreds of alien beasts being electrocuted and decapitated almost simultaneously.
Their blood boiled.
"Damn! Watching hundreds of alien beasts get electrocuted like that just made my blood boil!" Dai Run exclaimed.
"That was insane!" Liu Ming said, still catching his breath. "But I never knew Mr. Lin had space-type powers too!"
Space-type abilities were not unfamiliar to them because of Lu Jian.
"I wish I had recorded that. I'd rewatch it over and over!" Zhao Lin sighed regretfully.
Thanks to Lin Weihao's move, everyone finally caught a brief moment to breathe.
The breach in the fourth wall was nearly sealed.
Nanzhi controlled the alien beasts' corpses and stacked them at the damaged section of the wall. The pile quickly reached nearly six meters high.
It slowed the swarm significantly, though countless alien beasts still climbed over one another relentlessly, trying to push forward.
Nanzhi turned slightly toward Weihao, who was standing on the ladder beside her.
"Darling, you look so handsome. How about another round?" she winked.
Weihao chuckled softly.
"Sure."
