Chapter 0: Prologue
The whole world was drenched in red.
Pitch-black ash swirled through the air, and corpses were strewn across the ground. The thick stench of blood spread in every direction, making me nauseous.
A bead of cold sweat slid down my cheek and dropped to the floor. I forced my trembling lips to move and called out to the one cradled in my arms.
“...Brother.”
But no answer came.
His tightly shut eyes and peaceful face would’ve made him look like he was merely asleep—if not for the blood soaking his abdomen.
I lifted my head and called out to another person who had collapsed in front of me.
“Guild Leader...”
Again, there was no reply.
All the precious people I trusted and followed more than anyone were dead. No matter where I looked, all I could see were their corpses.
I gathered my trembling fingers into a tight fist. Then, I raised my gaze forward.
Far away—so far that his figure was barely distinguishable—stood a single man.
