Chapter 1151: Chapter 1151: The Eyes are the Window to the Soul Chapter 1151: Chapter 1151: The Eyes are the Window to the Soul Caleb Mamet looked at Xaviera Evans with a meaningful smile, “So that’s it, huh?”
Xaviera felt a little guilty under his gaze, but didn’t want to be discovered, so she defended herself, “I indeed went to bed at 10:30, but I wasn’t used to the new bed and woke up in the middle of the night. I played video games until 2 am before I could fall asleep. Is that not allowed?”
“Caleb, you’re far too suspicious. I just have insomnia and you think I went out and did something bad. You have to change this habit,” she scolded.
Upon hearing this, Caleb laughed. His voice was hearty, and his chest slightly vibrated with each chuckle. Delighted, he said, “Xaviera, you look so adorable when you’re trying to defend yourself.”
Then he leisurely continued, “I never said you went out and did something bad, but with the way you’re explaining yourself, it seems as if you feel a little guilty, huh?”
Xaviera’s face suddenly stiffened, and she realized she couldn’t hide anything from this guy. She even felt angry at herself for explaining too much–Caleb hadn’t accused her of doing anything bad, so she shouldn’t bring it up herself.
Xaviera felt as though her throat was blocked, and she fell silent for a long time.
Suddenly, Steve Price’s shout was heard from outside: “Boss! Something big happened at the main house! Let’s go and check it out!”
Xaviera’s lips curled into a smile, but she tried her best to suppress her grin in front of Caleb, which caused her smile to turn into a twitch.
She didn’t know why it happened a little later than she expected, but what was supposed to happen still happened: Boyd Drew went blind, his true identity exposed, and Sir Drew fainted again. The Drew family must be in chaos now!
Xaviera thought about all the sad things that happened to her to suppress her laughter, then pretended to panic, “Oh no, Caleb! Something big must’ve happened at the main house! Let’s go!”
Caleb nodded calmly.
Xaviera sighed in her heart and thought about how timely Steve’s arrival was, or else she wouldn’t know how to explain to Caleb. She quickly got up, put on her clothes, washed up a bit, and followed Caleb out with a bare face.
On the way, Caleb glanced at her and asked softly, “Xaviera, you seem to be looking forward to this. Do you know what happened at the main house?”
He’s testing her again!
Xaviera calmed down and gave a sweet smile, “How could I possibly know? I just hate the Drew family, so when something bad happens to them, of course I’d be excited! Is there anything wrong with that?”
Caleb nodded thoughtfully, while Steve Price on the side sneered. When he came in, he hadn’t mentioned whether it was good news or bad news, but Xaviera was already certain that the Drew family was in trouble–wasn’t it obvious?
When they were almost at the main house, Xaviera realized she had misspoken, so she quickly changed the subject, “Caleb, what happened at the main house this early in the morning?”
Caleb looked at her sideways and asked with a smile, “You don’t know, Xaviera?”
Xaviera shivered and anxiously retorted, “I already said I don’t know! I don’t live in the main house, so how could I know what happened there!”
Caleb playfully raised an eyebrow, “From what you said earlier, I thought you were well aware!”
Xaviera lowered her head, no longer arguing. She knew she was no match for Caleb.
Once the two arrived at the main house, they saw many people gathered outside, and the villa inside was in total chaos. Vivian Drew’s panicked voice and Boyd Drew’s angry roars could be heard coming from within.
Xaviera stood outside the door, feigning curiosity, “Caleb, what happened to them? From Boyd’s shouting, it sounds like he can’t see. He was fine yesterday; how did he suddenly go blind today?”
Caleb answered slowly, “Perhaps he’s done too many bad deeds, and even the fairy couldn’t bear it and made him blind.”
