Chapter 71: The Maid and the Princess’s First Encounter
"This... isn’t this too much?"
"What’s wrong with it? Didn’t you say you have no romantic thoughts about Loraviel? You haven’t done anything to her, so why refuse?" Mepeilu asked.
"Liana-sama?" Loraviel’s voice came from outside the door once more.
"She’s waiting outside." Mepeilu reminded.
"Well... in the eyes of others, our relationship may have improved a bit, but I’m still that ill-tempered young lady." Liana prepared Mepeilu for what was to come. "Right now, I don’t want Loraviel to know the truth yet. It’s best to keep things as they are."
"Why? You’ve done so much for her, even helped her family with their illnesses. Shouldn’t she be more grateful when she finds out?" Mepeilu said.
"That’s true, but we need a goal, don’t we?" Liana replied.
"Loraviel has been able to grow faster partly because of the pressure I’ve put on her. In other words, revenge is what drives her forward, right?"
"If she really thinks like you do, she’ll relax, and I don’t want to worry that she might slack off. But having motivation is better than having none, right?" Liana continued, "Besides, I haven’t done anything irreversible yet. After all, Loraviel’s mother is still fine, and Loraviel has no reason to go against me now."
Mepeilu nodded. Liana was right. Having some form of motivation could lead to faster progress.
Loraviel’s talent was frightening. With the pressure Liana put on her, Loraviel dared not slack off, allowing for rapid growth, which was good.
And Mepeilu wasn’t worried that Liana would give Loraviel too much pressure.
