“That’s not something I can say out loud,” Liana thought to herself.
“For now, let’s keep up the pretense of our ‘strained’ relationship. We can’t let Ruth suspect anything.”
The one who could solve the crisis at Venus Estate might be Eline, the protagonist, or even Liana herself—but it definitely couldn’t be Mepeilu.
Countess Ruth was only a minor villain in the early stages of the story, but she wasn’t someone who could be taken down easily.
Mepeilu was a little displeased, but she knew this wasn’t the time to throw a tantrum.
“I understand,” she nodded. “But you don’t have to worry about the antidote, Liana. I’ll take care of it. It’ll take some time, though. Since it’s a forbidden drug, there aren’t many who can refine it. I need to find the right person first.”
“No problem.”
If even Mepeilu needed time to locate someone capable of making the antidote, there was no way Liana could do it on her own—not with how restricted she was.
Mepeilu was truly a great help.
“...But Liana, you’ve been taking this drug for three whole years. Are you sure there won’t be any long-term side effects?”
She looked at Liana with concern.
Liana had no real answer to that.
