Chapter 122: Beneath the Statue(7)
As Cades thought he head a crack he simply watched the monster as it began to convulse in a manner that reminded him of the way he had been moving back on the endless chain when he had lost his self and was stuck with the green goo, or at least of the way he had felt during it, something which he never ever wanted to relive again, something that he was quite terrified off now, something that truly and quietly terrified him to say the least.
The huge spider's body however didn't care of the fear that it caused to rise up inside of Cades, and even if it did, it would probably find it funny and a positive effect rather than anything else, something that Cades himself now slowly began to realize as he finally began to think clearly once more, the impact from the spider and the tree finally leaving together with the dizziness it had caused, and as it did he began to realize something else, something about that which the spider was currently doing that he hadn't even been able to realize until now.
As he silently watched, the dizziness almost having left his mind entirely, but simply not attacking because he forgot to attack due to the sight he was currently seeing, due to the vision he wished he'd never have to view again, due to the nightmare he was now dreaming, due to that which he now heard without hearing.
Holding his gaze on the spider he heard a scream in the back of his mind rise in volume again, the scream which he knew far too well by now, the scream which would never leave him alone, and yet also the scream that had, without Cades noticing, been silenced on this island, something that it had now seemingly overcome, perhaps because he had damaged the trees, or perhaps because the cracking sounds coming from the spider were growing louder as they were occurring more and more, following the convulsions almost to a tee.
Cades watched in silent horror, hearing the disturbing cracks that soon turned into plumb sounds that resembled the sound of falling water, be it a tad bit deeper and thicker, more so akin to falling blood with pieces stuck in it, which was a fitting example as it was almost exactly what was happening in front of his face now.
He watched, his eye never-closing, his mouth agape without realizing it, starting to form a silent smile, as if to feel in control, as if to try and win himself over, win himself over to the happiness he had banished into the back of his head, all of this just because of what was happening in front of him now.
Before his very eye the spider grew, shedding the dark scales and the spikes that were now falling down, producing something that Cades could only assume to be a clearing sound whenever they collided with the gravel on the ground that now almost seemed to be made of glass, as if it was growing sharper in anticipation of it's meal, the meal consisting of around half a hundreds of litres of a black liquid now oozing out from the gash across the spiders stomach that was growing wider and wider by the second now, resembling a smiling mouth with strings of blood trying to glue it back together, trying to hold it in place, something that was however for naught as the very body it was seemingly trying to help, was now ripping itself apart.
