Chapter 28: “I’ll Do It”
When Elowen came to be, blinking her eyes open, she felt herself strapped to a chair. Her head was tiredly slumped forward and with all the strength she could muster, she raised her gaze toward the dim light bulb above.
"Ugh." She grunted at the weird banging feeling in her head—one she’d never felt before. "Where am I?" she asked, hoping that someone would answer her and they did.
"Took you a while." The voice was familiar—too familiar. "For a few moments, I’d assumed you were dead."
Elowen’s body shook in fright. She was afraid—too scared to raise her head to the man she knew was approaching her.
"Oh, look at me, Elowen. I can feel your wolf trembling. There is nothing to be scared of, you know. It’s not as if I have the intention to kill you."
Her breathing was rapid, her wolf was whimpering so much that even if she wanted to shift at that very moment, she wouldn’t be able to. She lifted her head, slowly until she could look at the full figure of the man who stood in front of her, a wooden chair in his grip.
Patro...
He was in a casual brown striped suit, matching the brown of his short hair, his undercuts freshly cut.
A smile tugged at his lips, and he sat down on the stool, manspreading before resting his elbows on his knees.
"Didn’t think we’d meet so soon, did you?" he asked.
"Mr. Zolotov, please don’t. Don’t do this. I-I haven’t done anything wrong to you," she said to him.
Patro shrugged. "I never said you did. Or did you?"
