Chapter 4: Betrayal
"Tommorrow!" Eve rasped. "How is that even going to work?"
Malakai walked over to the white table in his all but incredibly massive room draped in all white and picked up something. He raised it to her view and she took a proper look at the item.
"A...card?"
"Money," he said. "When you have money, anything is possible. Now, get out of my house, I'll see you tomorrow night."
Eve did as she was told, but stopped at the door. "Wait, out of your house, completely?"
"Yes."
"But...but where do I stay?"
Malakai turned to her. "You don't know the way back to your home?"
"I do, but I don't exactly have one right now. I mean, the Morins are after me and the same can be said for my ex-husband. Ex-mate."
He dragged a hand down his face. "Get in here and lock the door behind you."
Eve glanced at the door, did as he said and moved further into his rooom.
"Sleep on the couch."
