Chapter 76: Oh, you can read
Zandrel gave him more food from his own plate, but after that, he didn’t let him drink more alcohol, saying with that amount of food he ate, the alcohol wouldn’t be good for him.
Riven didn’t mind much as he got his stomach filled and then finally he sighed. "I am okay now!" he declared.
Kivara scowled. "You should be. You ate more than half the table, and where are you storing it in that slim body of yours?"
Zandrel patted the air. "Now, now. You should know that after one uses a lot of energy like Riven did today, then it’s normal for one to be hungry as if they were starving."
He turned to Riven. "And honestly, the amount of power you used today was insane. You just kept going! I really thought it was finished for you when you ran away, but who would have thought that you hid your summon in the head of that monster?
"Putting them directly in the middle of the enemy. No way they could stand a chance against that. Really well thought of by you!"
Riven shrugged as if he wasn’t pleased, but really, he was extremely happy that the plan went according to how he wanted it to in his head.
"...thank you, big guy, for trying to eat me... if not for you, I wouldn’t have thought of that method..."
Eventually, after that, Riven left Zandrel’s residence together with Kivara. They walked together under the gentle moon without speaking until they reached where they would go their different ways.
Somehow, Riven felt something he couldn’t put his hand on between them. It felt like a vibration that he didn’t know. He had felt it when they first reached the Green Clouds Sect. It was as if she wore a mask, but tonight it was even more pronounced.
