Chapter 54: Ice Forest
’...I’ll be cut in two with that... how’s he that fast and how’s Gavrex able to dodge that... these two are just so impressive!...’ Riven strained forward as if by doing so he would be able to catch every last bit of the action.
Kivara glanced at him and her lips actually twitched but she soon concentrated on the fight.
Gavrex leaped away, his speed more like a ramming bull. He whispered some words and the ground shuddered as if a mighty beast wanted to raise its head. "Forest of Ice!"
Suddenly, the whole platform changed as spikes grew from the ground like trees, each spike also grew a spike of its own like thorns.
Gavrex grinned and then he bent over and stretched out his hand, forming a battle hammer of ice. When he lifted the hammer he brought it closer to his face and blew some white mist from his mouth on it, making the hammer harder and stronger. "How do you like that, Tong! I’ve advanced in my Shape technique, pushing it to the highest. For that, thank you!"
"But how will your speed be useful here? I made this specifically for you!" Gavrex boasted. He seemed happy that he was able to create something to counter his opponent.
Kivara nodded. "Not bad. Not a bad way to use a Shape technique."
Riven couldn’t help but nod as well as he began to think about how he could use his own Shape technique. ’...how can I improve on it... create another sword... or improve on the ability of healing that it has...’
Riven was thinking all this absently while he watched the fight, waiting for Tong’s response.
Tong looked at the forest of frost and nodded coldly. He raised his sword, the silver light dimmed from it and then he slashed out with only his pure strength, cutting down two of the spiked trees.
"This is not strong enough to stop me," he said.
Gavrex seemed to be expecting this because he didn’t argue. Instead, he took in a deep breath, sucking in a massive amount of frosty air and then with a roar he breathed out like a small dragon.
