In the steamed bun shop, Carson Flores was enjoying his porridge and steamed buns, the picture of relaxation.
Across from him sat Lilianna Norman, who had removed her veil. She too was eating steamed buns, but her movements were much more refined than Carson’s.
Although those in the Nascent Soul Realm could easily fast, Carson, having come from the Mortal Realm, enjoyed the pleasures of good food and the mortal world’s homely atmosphere.
Carson had spent a few days rebuilding the City Lord’s Mansion, activated the former City Lord’s old followers, and restored the previous order. After confirming the relevant laws and regulations, he had washed his hands of it.
Order had always existed; it simply lacked someone to ensure its stable enforcement.
He didn’t need to do anything; his mere presence was like a Sea God’s calming needle, reassuring all the city’s residents.
Though he was the City Lord, he lived as though he were an ordinary person.
In the mornings, Carson would stroll to a nearby meat bun shop, devouring several large meat buns and sipping on a bowl of porridge.
During the day, Carson would confine himself to the City Lord’s Mansion, silently crafting elixirs, batch after batch.
These elixirs were usually neither particularly potent nor valuable. After making them, having no use for them himself, Carson would have them distributed to the needy citizens, reportedly saving many lives.
In the evenings, he and Lilianna Norman would dine together, go for a walk, and then comfortably sleep through the night, dreaming sweetly until dawn.
