Carson Flores’s face changed drastically as he realized that his interaction with Samantha Tate had been witnessed by the old goat-like elder, who deduced the relationship between the two.
Runes lit up beneath Carson’s feet, and like a phantom, he instantly vanished from his spot, reappearing in front of Samantha in the next second, Water-Fire Mirror in his hand.
Yet, the old goat-like elder simply let out a chuckle before turning and flying towards other people.
"No matter, you wanted to save them, right? I’ll just kill them one by one right before your eyes. I’d like to see what you can do about it!"
At the same time, hordes of demonic beasts flooded in from the colossal holes torn by the tower in the sky, like dark clouds pressing down.
The old goat-like elder’s gaze was cold as he watched Carson, "I admit, kid, you have plenty of cunning tricks up your sleeve; even I was caught off guard. But now?"
The elder looked up at the sky, at the swarming demonic beasts, his tone laced with mockery: "Apart from those tricks, who can you fight against, and whom can you save?"
Carson remained silent.
The elder spoke the truth; the vast disparity in strength meant that Carson could not confront the old goat-like elder head-on. The elder was wary of him, but as long as he maintained a sufficient distance, Carson couldn’t touch him.
With the demons pouring in, the city was on the brink of collapse, and a gruesome scene of ten thousands being devoured was imminent.
Carson could only watch, powerless.
