The waters of the Underground Dark River surged turbulently, pitch-dark and void of light, as Carson Flores held tightly onto Samantha Tate, letting the current carry them further downward.
Samantha Tate had always been somewhat afraid of the dark, but with Carson Flores holding her like this, her heart was strangely calm, and she even felt a bit of joy for the life that had escaped disaster.
It had been quite a while, and the Crimson Dragon King hadn’t caught up; he must have given up, right?

As Carson Flores held Samantha Tate, he swam upward and then they burst through the water’s surface.
There was no sun in the sky, but the light was sufficient and bright, and the surrounding scenery was beautiful, with lush trees indicating they were in the middle of a vast lake.
