Carson Flores halted in his tracks, his face bearing a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.
"I can just propose anything, and you’ll agree?"
Zayne Shepherd watched as Carson Flores stopped, feeling a slight relief in his heart. It seemed that Carson Flores didn’t want to create a situation where both sides would suffer, there was still room for negotiation!
That was good news!
What Zayne Shepherd feared most was Carson Flores turning on his heel and leaving without any room for negotiation. However, if Carson Flores chose to do that, Zayne Shepherd would have had to seek help to capture Carson Flores and then figure things out.
Zayne Shepherd said sternly, "As long as the conditions you propose aren’t excessive, we will agree to them."
Carson Flores laughed lightly, "Since I am to propose conditions, of course they will be excessive. You are free to disagree, you could even invite people to capture me, using life and death as leverage, right? Even though your Divine Cloudy Sect is known for being overbearing and unreasonable, void of principles, you’re still one of the three sects and four families, surely you can’t be without a single friend, right?"
By explicitly mentioning another option, Carson Flores made Zayne Shepherd even more anxious.
This fellow spoke so nonchalantly, did he have a countermeasure ready?
Did he have a powerful backer here?
Zayne Shepherd would not use such a tactic unless absolutely necessary. Forcibly taking someone was one issue; whether they could heal Rocky Stein was another. If they captured Carson Flores, would they be able to let him go?
