Chapter 557
The Tomb of the Saints was located beneath the headquarters of the Order of the Holy Knights.
Like most of the Allied Forces, the Order and the Church of the Five Great Gods were fully committed to the war. As a result, there was only a skeleton staff manning the headquarters of the Order of the Holy Knights.
Naturally, the headquarters did not have barriers comparable to those at the imperial palace or the Temple, and since I wasn’t undead, I could enter the headquarters. Infiltrating the headquarters of the Order of the Holy Knights was relatively easier compared to the imperial palace or the Temple. Moreover, we were going to the Tomb of the Saints, which would naturally be devoid of people.
It was an easy place to infiltrate in the first place, but Connor Lint’s help made it absurdly easy.
“Damn, I really don’t know what’s right anymore,” Connor said.
He had probably felt conflicted when he agreed to help us with our wicked deeds, but now that he knew that the empire was already engaged in such acts, he had lost his sense of who was right and who was wrong.
The label of evil belongs to the side that does evil first. Thus, Connor Lint decided to help us attempt to raise Death Knights in the Tomb of the Saints. This would be our third attempt.
“It’s not as grand as the imperial mausoleum, but it’s still impressive.”
The Tomb of the Saints, which lay beneath the headquarters of the Order of the Holy Knights, wasn’t as massive as the imperial mausoleum, but it still had a solemn and dignified air to it, and the overall ambiance was different from what we had felt in the imperial mausoleum.
Holy symbols of the gods were engraved on the walls at regular intervals, behind which lay the sarcophagi of the deceased saints. Along with the symbols of the god which each saint worshipped were their names and a brief history of each of them.
It felt like a mortuary. The remains of the deceased saints would be inside those walls.
It was like a columbarium with coffins rather than urns.
