“Ahhh, Spindle feels much lighter after releasing all that built-up tension. You have her sincere gratitude, Vermillion, for giving her such a lovely and receptive outlet for the day’s accumulated lust.” The Webling pats her spider abdomen, which actually looks a bit slimmer after having ‘dropped ballast’ to the tune of a few gallons of corrupted cum and an egg in my womb.

Spindle, Delilah, and I lay together basking in the post-coital bliss of our union, which resulted in the successful breeding of a beautiful new life. Spindle and Delilah coo and ahh at the image of our daughter on the tattoo interface of the moth girl’s tummy Brand while I poke around at the additions to my Darkling Mark Tree.

Two things immediately catch my eye. Firstly, it looks like it’d take five Mark points to fully replicate Delilah’s core ability set, so that’s out of my budget range. Secondly, I find it fascinating to come across a third ‘support’-type ability facilitating flight in a third separate Mark Tree—and its nature seems fundamentally different from the others!

Harpies have the Lightweight ability, which reduces their inertia, allowing for easier takeoffs, landings, lets them make sharper turns, and reach top speed faster. Sweet Bees have Buzz Propelled, which seems to be a propellant ability based in Sound magic. That means Wasp and Bee monsters will have comparatively higher inertia, which can be a good thing to keep their momentum when facing a sudden headwind. By contrast, Mothra will be floatier—achieving flight with a few weak wingbeats but having trouble making sudden stops due to their relatively high inertia.

This is great for me because it allows me to customize the type of flight I want, plus I can divide the marks necessary to achieve effective flight across multiple Mark Trees. I’ve been thinking about trading Lightweight for something like Buzz Propelled or Anti-Gravity Scales—enemies can knock me around in combat if I’m not dense enough to stick around after closing the distance.

“Alex!” Gale calls out to me, breaking me from my thoughts as she gracefully glides through the air using her unique Rainbird Aviation—a fourth support-type flight ability that seems to grant her neutral buoyancy in air at will. She lands before me and begins strutting about like a proud rooster. “Guess what, guess what, guess what~!?!” she crows. “Gale is super special!!!”

As Monal and Rosie flap to follow behind their avian Mistress, I notice they each seem rather chipper and deduce what happened. In fact, all three of them give a refreshed shiver and preen themselves as I watch, a clear indicator their rosebuds have been thoroughly massaged by a certain Gobliness. Monal proceeds to present me with a piece of parchment paper in her pursed lips that confirms things.

Alex, I sent you the first batch of monsters with base affinities bearing this letter as soon as I identified their latent talents. I’ll continue to do so with each I find, as working my way through this excruciatingly long line could take me some time. However, the results speak for themselves. I have to say, I was shocked from the moment I sampled their flavors! Monal and Rosie I understand, as they were the Harpy Matron’s pick of her best and brightest. One has a major Fire affinity, the other a significant affinity for Earth and a minor in Fire, but both already have Evolution Tokens. Keep in mind, though, that you can increase the potency of said Tokens through additional elemental exposure.

What floored me the second she touched my tastebuds was this random fledgling you reportedly stumbled across while walking the Human Plains. Seriously, Alex, that can’t be right—where the hell did you find this rare bird? Besides the native Harpy affinity for Air magic, she has major affinities for the base elements of Water (which she recently awakened), Cold, and Electricity! Given her recent acquisition of her Cold Evolution Token, she must be on the threshold of gaining another after the experiences she’s had.

I’m begging you to do whatever it takes to make her Evolve, Alex! There are only a few mentions of beings with that many major base affinities in the Book of Monsters—this is a perfect opportunity to expand on Saint Lilith’s research!

Ah, typical Gabby. Chuckling, I toss the parchment and embrace Gale before spinning her about in a celebratory twirl. “Yes, Gale, you’re the most special Harpy in Field Town!”

“Yay!!!”

Then I give her a peck on the lips and set her down to continue her triumphant parading about with her wingmaidens cheering her success while I consider the situation.

It is strange to think that Gale has so much hidden potential when there wasn’t anything in particular to separate her from the average Harpy originally. Sure, one-in-a-million geniuses exist, but monster evolution has other rules it operates by. Casting my mind back to my time with the Book of Monsters using Quick Study’s eidetic memory, I recall it correlates high affinities with both potent evolutions and a past of traumatic events. In other words, those who struggled the most consistently rose to the highest of Tiers.

This insight is what first led Saint Lilith to begin her study of monsters’ Evolutionary Requirements. I wonder, though, if those factors aren’t more intertwined than the Book of Monsters theorized?

Did Gale’s brush with death by drowning and resurrection by lightning do more than catalyze her evolution, but awaken and/or strengthen her base affinities? If I hadn’t come across Gale, she would’ve had a normal life as a simple Harpy that would probably never have evolved. The chances of her taking over her mother’s position as Matron would’ve been equally or less slim than gaining the battle experience to become a Greater Harpy. Only the catalyst of an Echidna and so much exposure to exotic monsters could awaken her latent affinities.

Regardless, I’m not about to go around taking my girls to the brink of death to improve their prospects, but it’s a factor worth considering. As it stands, I already know that both sexual and martial experience contribute to monster evolution. I may as well make some arrangements for them to boost the potency of their Evolutionary Tokens.

I call over a couple of passing rodent kin to act as runners, “Hey, could you please fetch a few people for me?”

“You got it, boss!”

“Who caught your interest, Lady Mayoress?”

Oh, it’s Diane and Tricia, the lop-eared Mochi Rabbit and her Komanezumi partner. Cool.

“Wow, you two look amazing! Congratulations!” Gale exclaims while flapping over, having recognized them as well. Rosie, Monal, and I watch with reserved affection as their Mistress showers the humble rodent kin with kisses and attention. We understand that’s just the way Gale is around people.

Finally, I interrupt to give the two my list, and they both scamper off, the latter unable to draw a straight line with even her life at stake, but I’ve no doubts they’ll accomplish the task in record time. Everyone seems to love nibbling on the Mochi Rabbit’s perpetually regenerating confectionery ears, and I’ve heard Tricia’s proficiency in giving head since her evolution has increased spectacularly. They’re both becoming increasingly popular.

“What’s going on, Alex?” Gale asks.

I explain my idea to the three Harpy girls. “The best way to strengthen your affinities before the war tomorrow is going to be exposing you to as much of the intended element as possible without hurting anyone. To me, that means sex with exotic monsters! I hope you three are up for a walk on the wild side?”

“Gale is a good girl! I’m happy to make love with anyone if Alex thinks it’s for the best!”

Touched, I reply, “Well, I appreciate the blind trust, but I don’t want to push you into having sex with someone you’re not attracted to.”

The Rainbird gives me a broad grin. “Gale has never met a cock or pussy she didn’t like! Except for Vari; she was really mean to Sue and Megan. And the Elder Tree, because he hurt a lot of people. I wouldn’t do it with Peter, Malik, Spindle’s mom, or—” she goes on to list a few more of the bad monsters I’ve faced or heard of doing evil deeds.

Ah. It seems Gale is nice-sexual; the only people she won’t fuck are assholes.

That shouldn’t be a problem, though, because everyone in my camp are monsters who have… let’s call it ‘committed to mending their predatory ways.’ Turning to her wingmaidens, I ask, “What about you two?”

Monal and Rosie exchange glances, seeming to hold a silent discussion before coming to an agreement. Then the pheasant Harpy replies, “We’re committed to doing what it takes to stay by Mistress Gale’s side.”

“That means we can’t slack off and fall behind,” Rosie the ebony-skinned Flamingo Harpy adds.

“Even if we’re asked to sexually service partners whom…” Monal starts.

“—Who we wouldn’t have spat on a week ago,” Rosie finishes.

“You mean a mangy, dog-breath girl like me?” Suka says while striding confidently into our circle. She definitely has some pep in her step from a recent tongue bath as well.

Both Harpies flinch at the Flamestalker’s bluntness.

Gale, on the other hand, throws herself at the wolf girl, “Hi, Suka!” The Rainbird glomps onto Suka’s upper body in zero-gravity thanks to her Aviation ability while gleefully wiggling her bottom and shaking her tailfeathers.

“Um, hi yourself, Gale,” Suka responds after accepting a welcome kiss from the Rainbird’s smiling lips. Even she doesn’t know why Gale is so happy to see her.

“Thanks for keeping Gale’s wives safe today!”

As always, the Rainbird’s motivations are straightforward as can be. Suka fought alongside Cottontail and Megan, after all, and they all came home safely. Gale doesn’t need another reason to celebrate.

In the face of their Mistress’s overflowing affection for a monster that they would’ve considered a racial enemy in the past, Rosie and Monal step forward with contrite resignation. “Is this the monster you wish us to service, Lady Mayoress?” Monal asks.

“It won’t be a problem,” Rosie assures.

“Suka is one, yes,” I hedge, then I explain my plans and reasoning to my lupine mate.

“Great,” Suka shrugs, “I’ve got no problem turning up the heat.”

Two flame-construct phalluses sprout from the fiery pubic hair covering the wolf girl’s mound. Their size, girth, and burning aspect make Monal and Rosie’s eyes bulge with trepidation. Even I’m slightly concerned about how big Suka is making her flame-dicks these days.

“Don’t worry!” Gale tells her wingmaidens, “Suka will make you feel great! Incredible! The bestest!”

“Heh, yup, the bestest, that’s me.” A trace of shame enters Suka’s voice, and her fiery cocks suddenly shrink to a slightly more approachable size that makes both wingmaidens’ shoulders slump in relief. “Come on, then, don’t be shy,” the Flamestalker says as she forms huge flame claws over her hands that stretch forward like rubber to grab both Harpies around the middle and reel them in.
