Giovanni wasn’t in a great mood. He was sent to Iron Sand Fort to defend the western borders against more than twenty thousand enemies. He could have chosen to escape with his men, but doing so would only earn him the disdain of the whole empire. He still wanted to be crowned as the next emperor so he didn’t want to damage his reputation.
“Your Highness!” Marco jumped down from the wall to greet him.
Giovanni glanced at him and asked. “What is the situation?”
Marco couldn’t afford to waste any time so he quickly updated him on the situation.
Hearing his report, the second prince was surprisingly cooperative. “I give you full command of my men, but we must defend this place until Andre arrives!”
Marco was taken aback, not expecting him to relinquish control over his own troops.
He was in urgent need of elite warriors so he immediately agreed with a nod. “You have my word, Your Highness! This fortress will not fall!”
“Good! You may go. I can take care of my own.” Giovanni waved his hand, indicating for him to leave.
Protecting him were four Transcendent Knights. One of them was a former member of the Dragon Guards, a warrior who was about to reach the peak of Transcendent!
With these experts around him, Marco didn’t have to worry about his safety. He didn’t linger for long and left after assigning tasks to the second prince’s troops.
“Your Highness, you shouldn’t be here. Marco can defend this wall by himself.” Urged one of the four Transcendents to the second prince.
