Chapter 722 - 721
As soon as these words were spoken, Oliver Horton froze.
Old Mrs. Horton immediately began speaking: "When he was born, his entire body was covered in tubes, confined to the ICU. After spending two months in an incubator, the day finally came when he could be discharged. But on that day, you secretly tried to strangle him by grasping his neck, wanting to kill him. Then you pressed a pillow against his face, wanting to suffocate him. Oliver Horton, he was just a newborn baby! How could you be so cruel!"
Oliver’s face twisted in anger: "You old hag, it’s all your fault for protecting him! Every time you managed to catch me, thwarting my plans, making me fail. If I had succeeded, things wouldn’t have come to this!"
Old Mrs. Horton sighed: "Yes, because of this, I was forced to raise him personally by my side. When he reached five or six years old, I sent him back to the old family home. But even then, you didn’t let him go... You were twenty years old by then, persuading your father to let you intern at the company. You bribed people to go to the old home and harm him... I had no choice but to send him abroad. Oliver, do you think you’re innocent? What about Lewis? Was he not innocent? You could be so ruthless to an innocent child—how do you expect me to see you?"
Old Mrs. Horton glanced at his hands: "Every time I look at you, I think of when you were just a fourteen-year-old boy, pressing a pillow against an infant’s face with such malicious intent. How could I possibly treat you kindly?"
Oliver shouted in rage: "I told you, you drove me to this! It’s all because you favored him! If you hadn’t been partial to him, why would I have harmed him?!"
Old Mrs. Horton sighed deeply: "Aren’t you twisting the truth?"
Oliver was stunned: "What do you mean?"
"Lewis was just born. Just brought home from the hospital, and you tried to harm him. That’s why I protected him, why I favored him wholeheartedly. You acted first, Oliver. If it wasn’t for your cruelty, I would’ve treated you differently... After all, as you said, no matter what happened between your mom and dad, or between Lewis’ mom and your dad, both you and Lewis are innocent. I am your grandmother—how could I not love you?"
"But tell me, how can I love a murderer? How can I love someone like you?"
