As those words fell, everyone turned to look at old Mrs. Horton.

Old Mrs. Horton glanced at Lewis Horton, then at Oliver Horton, and replied with a smile, "I’ll do as you all say, I’ll listen to all of you."

Oliver Horton’s face lit up at once. "Elder, did you hear that? Grandma said she’d listen to us, so..."

But Mr. Horton interrupted, "What your big sister-in-law meant is that she’d listen to me! When she was in her right mind, the person she favored most was Lewis! It’s under Lewis’s leadership that the Hortons have come this far. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to break into Clance at all! I believe if my big sister-in-law were still clear-headed, she would never have amended the will!"

Oliver Horton grew anxious and turned to Nathan Horton for support.

Nathan Horton immediately spoke up, "Uncle, while what you say may be true, and we in this family have never denied Lewis’s contributions, my mom’s will is very important to us. Surely she wouldn’t hand over all the shares to Lewis and leave us with nothing, would she?"

Oliver Horton nodded. "Exactly. Even if Grandma gave just five percent to my father and me? She clearly has twenty percent of the shares, doesn’t she? And right now, all twenty percent are being held by Lewis on her behalf! We’re only asking for five percent—surely that’s not too much? Are you saying the old lady would really leave us no shares at all and give them all to Lewis?"

Mr. Horton frowned deeply, visibly troubled.

At that moment, Mr. Horton suddenly asked, "Have you seen Big Sister-in-law’s current will? Is that why you want to amend it here? Did she really not leave any shares to you?"

Nathan Horton frowned. "How could she possibly leave us any? After all..."
