Chapter 646 - 647: Communication
"Jiu’er, see that fire basket there? Light it with your candle." said Chu You after they had cleared the Demon Nation Guards from this spot.
They saw fire baskets spaced along both sides of the path. The baskets had no flames, but they contained oil that could be ignited.
"Okay." Miao Jiuer quickly ran over and lit the fire basket with her candle, which instantly ignited a blue flame.
Everyone was now bathed in a strange, bluish glow that lent them a somewhat peculiar appearance.
Most notably, though there were many people, the atmosphere remained eerily quiet. Unless Chu You spoke, no one else would utter a word.
Without anyone needing to mention it, Dantai Jingning ran over and lit the fire basket on the other side.
"Master, why do we need to light these fire baskets?" Miao Jiuer asked, feeling puzzled. In her view, the radiance from the Holy Angelic was enough to see clearly.
"Well, according to the book, lighting the blue fire will unlock the palace doors." That was indeed the case. As for the book Chu You was referring to, it was naturally all made-up.
"Oh, I see." Miao Jiuer nodded in understanding.
The team continued moving, albeit at a slower pace, since they soon encountered another attack from the Demon Nation Guards.
"Master, I have a question," Miao Jiuer said as she watched the ensuing battle unfold.
