The Battle in Journey to the West

Chapter 168 - 165: Jiao Demon King Seeks Treasure in the North Sea

It is said that Kong Xuan took the Nine-Headed Bug with him, and Hu Li stomped her feet in frustration. If only she had made her move earlier, she wouldn’t have let the enemy slip away.

The Ox Demon King consoled her, "Sister, rest assured, we will encounter that Nine-Headed Bug again. Next time, we’ll just kill him directly."

Upon hearing this, Hu Li felt somewhat relieved and said, "Then I thank you, Big Brother Bull!"

The Peng Demon King was downcast, wondering if he should visit the Buddhist sect, but considering the numerous formidable figures within the sect, going there might mean no return. If he didn’t go, however, how could he bring his elder brother, Kong Xuan, back? After all, he was his own flesh and blood.

The Peng Demon King decided that once his injuries healed, he would make a trip to Mount Meru to see exactly what was going on and what magic Tathagata had performed.

Enlightenment Dao patted the Peng Demon King’s shoulder and said, "Third brother, there’s no need to worry. When the time comes, everything will become clear. For now, we have temporarily avenged Sister Hu Li by dealing with the Yamata no Orochi. If we encounter the Nine-Headed Bug again, we’ll just kill him. Since there’s nothing else to do, let’s head back to Flower-Fruit Mountain!"

All the Demon Kings nodded in agreement. There was nothing worth staying for in Yingzhou, a land of barbarians with not a single amusement.

Enlightenment Dao and the others immediately turned back to Flower-Fruit Mountain. The whole group cast escape techniques, mounted their rides, and headed west back to Dongsheng Immortal State.

The Jiao Demon King asked, "Great Peng, how did Kong Xuan become your elder brother? What exactly happened?"

The Peng Demon King replied, "Both my elder brother and I were born from a phoenix. My brother was born because our mother absorbed a breath of innate Five Elements Spiritual Qi, whereas I was born from the remaining bit of innate Metallic Energy of the White Tiger. As such, we were greatly shunned by the Phoenix Clan and grew up outside the clan. Later, my brother was taken as a disciple by Zhunti, who made him a Bodhisattva, and since then, we’ve seen each other only rarely. After the great war of Middle Ancient Times, I lost all contact with my elder brother. When I went to Mount Meru, I was stopped, and they said my brother had met his fate, which saddened me greatly."

The brothers were astonished; it turns out that the Peng Demon King was indeed of the Phoenix Clan.
