The Battle in Journey to the West

Chapter 125 - 122: Laojun Plans to Help Zhang Jiao

Zhuang Zhou and Guanyin had a great battle, and in the end, it was Ksitigarbha who appeared. Only then did Guanyin escape with her life, otherwise her millennia of cultivation would have ended up as mere dust.

The Human Sage was truly terrifying. Even a master like Guanyin was no match for him, nearly losing her life.

However, this time Zhuang Zhou’s ascension to heaven was unobstructed, reaching the Thirty-Three Heavens without passing through the Heavenly Court. The journey was perilously dangerous, with fierce winds and thunderclouds above. Those with weaker cultivation would be directly obliterated.

Zhuang Zhou did not want to expend the effort to ascend due to his sufficient mana, yet passing through those layers of fierce winds and thunderclouds was indeed troubling. Thus, he chose to go through the Eastern Heavenly Gate.

At the Eastern Heavenly Gate, only a few soldiers were guarding, leaning on their spears and sleeping soundly by the gate. It turned out that the Daoist Equal to Heaven had shattered the Southern Sky Gate with a single arrow. Since the Southern Sky Gate was the main gate of the Heavenly Court, many immortals used it, and thus, the Jade Emperor had dispatched troops from all directions to repair it.

Zhuang Zhou passed the Eastern Heavenly Gate unnoticed, shaking his head silently, thinking, "These Heavenly Soldiers are truly negligent! Instead of properly guarding the gate, they are here sleeping deeply."

Guarding the Heavenly Gate was the most tedious task. At the Southern Sky Gate, it was somewhat better, but at the other gates, it was deadly boring. With hardly any people passing through all day, what else could they do but sleep?

Zhuang Zhou entered the Heavenly Court and did not linger. He soared upwards, passing more than thirty layers of heaven, and arrived at the Great Pure Sky.

Above the Thirty-Three Heavens, there were no defenses. Anyone could ascend, but whether they dared to was another matter. Roaming the domain of a sage without cause was akin to seeking death, unless one had urgent matters.

"Who is this old Taoist, and what brings him to the Great Pure Sky?" A Child halted Zhuang Zhou’s path.

"Ah! I am Zhuang Zhou, and I am here to seek teachings from Laozi. May I know in which heaven Laozi resides?" Zhuang Zhou bowed and asked.
