Inside the director's office at the Red Rain headquarters, Sword Treasure sat on the desk, emitting a calm, synthesized electronic voice.
"I've warned you time and time again—you need to eat people!" Big Cup vibrated on the desk as well. "Only those who eat people are truly human."
Having stepped into the office from outside, Elizabeth parted her lips but found herself unable to speak.
In the past, she would have loudly reprimanded Sword Treasure. But now...
"Liz," Gu He said, opting for the more intimate address. "Listen to my explanation. Let's link up. We should talk through the link—this is a secret, after all."
There was another reason, of course. He didn't want Sword Treasure participating in this conversation anymore—not for a single word.
He should have brought Lorna along. Lorna could have smoothed over Elizabeth's temper, and Swallow Slash could have kept Sword Treasure in check.
