Under Lu Jiu's guidance, Gu He walked through the lively yet solemn Guandi Temple and stepped outside.
The martial arts contest for marriage was taking place on the small stage Jian used for her speeches; she and Shan Bao had temporarily stepped aside.
An even larger crowd had gathered around the ring. Aside from the father and daughter holding the contest, two people were exchanging blows on the stage: Lorna and a hulking, bearded man.
Before Gu He could even find a place to stand, Lorna delivered a lightning-fast flying kick. The large man failed to dodge and was launched straight out of the ring. Neither of them had even drawn their blades.
The large man let out a cry of pain, and the onlookers erupted into cheers for Heroine Lorna.
"Uh..." Gu He glanced at Lu Jiu, but Lu Jiu didn't know what was going on either; Lorna had only just gotten on the stage when he left.
Even though the bearded man had been defeated in a single exchange and rolled quite a distance from the ring, he looked rather satisfied. He chuckled merrily, "I have the honor of losing to Heroine Lorna today!"
He hadn't gone up there for the marriage contest at all; he had just wanted to get beaten up by her.
Now, whenever he visited a bar or teahouse, this would make for bragging rights that drew amazement and envy.
