Chapter 231: Mind Network Combat Mode
A red-and-black Berserk Motorcycle was the first to tear through the data void of this mind network space, trailing pixelated light and shadow.
Lorna wasn't in overdrive, and the voodoo was slowing her down, but with the speed boost from her laurel program's deer-chariot mode, using the hunter J-grade program "Neural Invasion" to reverse-trace the data was actually easier than before.
She jumped through multiple network nodes in rapid succession, tracking the trail like a hunter following a wolf's blood straight back to the den.
The moment Lorna materialized from her latest jump, she was immediately surrounded by raging torrents of data, as if caught in a maelstrom.
"Son of a bitch. This has to be it."
The environment was a fierce, volatile data torrent capable of manifesting as informational illusions. A ritual script had long since taken root here, and an invasive data entity like her instantly triggered the firewall's rejection.
The Berserk Motorcycle landed on the street. Lorna glanced around; this place looked exactly like the mind network's informatized version of the voodoo district.
Dilapidated, chaotic streets, distant high-rises, low-slung shops, crooked utility poles, and a tangled mess of power lines.
A few dead trees lined the streets. Only a handful of shops still sported neon signs, their multicolored lights flickering erratically to cast a glow over the phantoms of passersby—homeless drifters and prostitutes stumbling about like walking corpses.
