Chapter 152: Incoming Materials
The Legion had successfully completed its mission that night. Two days had passed, and dusk was falling once again.
No one had been idle over the past two days; everyone was busy preparing for the upcoming counterattack.
The four members of the Legion had quietly examined that flesh-and-blood Data Wafer. A scan from the camp's tripod computer confirmed it held no viral signatures, but the data seemed to be nothing more than a chaotic pile of garbage.
To get a clearer look, Chiba kept watch while Gu He, Lorna, and Vivian established a neural connection to the wafer through empathy.
However, the wafer was far too old to withstand their tinkering. The moment they connected, its flesh and blood began to rupture.
Fortunately, before it completely deteriorated, Lorna managed to transfer the data into Gu He's mind.
"It's just useless garbage," Lorna concluded in frustration. "A total waste of excitement."
"Not necessarily. We just can't read it," Vivian said, sensing something different. "Once we're back in the city, we'll have a trusted alchemist take a look."
Gu He himself felt a vague, lingering sensation from the data—a gentle warmth, like clear spring water.
