"I only heard this through the grapevine. A Bank girl got caught by a pack of street dogs and sold to a wilderness circus. They modified her, turning her into a caged exhibit. That kind of trick has a decent market out in the wilderness—customers pay and get to play with her. How they play, I have no idea."
The voices outside the box drifted in, sometimes loud, sometimes muffled.
Sophia heard the voice speak again, and the more she listened, the more violently she struggled.
Her head was still encased in that triangular Wondrous Item Helmet, her hands and feet locked in shackles.
These street dogs, these street dogs...
"Of course, we wouldn't do anything that inhumane. Wait... or maybe we're going to do something even more inhumane? So, what are we doing with her?"
"Open the box first. Let me look at her."
"Sure thing."
Listening to the commotion, Sophia tensed her muscles to put up a fight. But the box suddenly released a jolt of electricity. She was instantly knocked out, losing consciousness once again.
