Chapter 53: A Rule for Surviving the Streets
The early morning sky had yet to brighten when heavy pounding rattled the doors of the Fishpond.
"Who is it... Old Fan, get the door..."
Gu He lay dead to the world on the sofa in his pajamas. Still groggy, it took him a moment to remember that Old Fan had gone over to Licai's place to keep watch. He reluctantly dragged himself up. A glance at the wall clock told him it was just past five.
"Gu He, open up!" A sharp, crisp female voice rang out from the alleyway. It was Lorna.
"Coming." Gu He scratched his head and went to answer it. Lorna hadn't shown her face in three days; the last time he'd seen her was the day he became an extraordinary.
Lorna... He had already quietly asked Old Fan about her. He hadn't mentioned Roden Ludd, but he'd learned about the Daughter of the Bloodline anyway...
