Night Hacker

Chapter 50: Redemption Activated

Five million thrown away, with no redemption to show for it and no elevation of her personality or spirit.

She had gone from the first-floor lobby to the third-floor private booth, eventually asking Mother Sandy to take everyone out so she could have some peace and quiet.

Now, Elizabeth stood alone on the booth's balcony, gazing out at the rain-swept, neon-lit streets as her orange trench coat rustled in the biting night wind.

Just throwing money around wouldn't work. The old matron had told her this before—people on the street wouldn't be grateful to her just for that.

Elizabeth let out a soft sigh.

Truthfully, she didn't have much money left to throw around anyway. She had some childhood savings stashed in her personal account, but any massive expenditures usually relied on her family's backing—and right now, her family was not supporting her.

After tonight's massive splurge, she only had about twenty to thirty million left at her disposal.

Elizabeth had once considered using these funds for a large-scale charity initiative, like building a school for street children. That was off the table for now, though, as her family fiercely opposed the idea. The ridiculous part was that it wasn't that Seth couldn't do such a thing—it was that she couldn't.

The old matron had told her she needed to "behave better."
