Chapter 46: Light Swallow
Over a decade ago, among the Yakuza's special envoys, there was a Doll nicknamed "Light Swallow."
She always wore a leather jacket and jeans, the metal flakes on her clothes sparking with electricity. Her face was set in a cold expression, and she rarely smiled.
As a stray dog in her youth, she staked out a Yakuza bar called Diva's Den for three months. She did it for a single chance to prove her ruthless talent, to pick up a katana and kill, all for just a bite to eat.
Later, she became not only the best Container but also their top-tier fighting dog, completing missions even more efficiently than meat-cutters or assassins.
Now, she wore a pale yellow floral kimono and wooden clogs, and went by the name Ayane Kumiko.
"Shinji, I'm protecting Xiao He," she said, lowering her eyes. "President Nagano and Miss Nagano are protecting me."
"You think too highly of yourself. It makes no difference now whether you live or die."
Shinji raised his right hand. A glowing yellow filament sizzled on his thumb. He told the two subordinates beside him, "I'll handle this."
The two men in black trench coats retracted their monomolecular wires and stepped back, clearing space for a fight.
