Chapter 1444: Bart’s Letter Exchange
Where words travel freely, so too does fortune find its way.
As a mercenary, he might have a rough idea about what this meant by instinct. However, it was only in Alterra that he truly understood.
Considering the current trend, Alterra would only become more and more well-known, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he’d see people several thousands of kilometers away heading here just to see it. The Post Office would be instrumental to this development.
Another interesting difference in the Post Office in Alterra was its Alert System. For a couple of silver for foreigners (and one for locals) they could activate this add-on.
When a letter in their name appeared, a Letterboy (or girl) would hunt for them, alerting them that they had a letter in the Post Office. This would save the waiting time, and they could use that time to go around, have fun, learn more, and maybe earn more.
That said, Bart and the others used this service a lot, because they exchanged a lot of letters back home as well as with their allies. Regardless of whether something big had happened, it was their duty to report information back to the main base.
Mercenaries traveled a lot, and they lived on the edge. Their lives could be forfeited due to the lack of information.
They were relatively well informed, and their own Mercenary team had established a system of passing information around. They were also written in code.
It wasn’t that they did not trust Alterra—on the contrary, they did—but their internal code was a system that their mercenary group applied to every member.
After all, through various methods and generations of existence, they naturally knew of the Lords’ access to the Posts.
