Chapter 1433: Terran Animal Shelter
The group now headed towards the animal shelter, which was built on one of the parks.
Most of them were cats and dogs, for some reason. It was really a mystery for a while until the animal experts (they built their own group without Althea having to formalize it) studied hard for the past couple of months.
Before, they knew that mixed breeds had higher chances of survival than pure breeds, simply because their genes were more varied than pure breeds, which had quite a bit of inbreeding involved.
After studying the ones they had, the experts came up with a theory.
The first one was regarding large animals like elephants, giraffes, hippos, and so on. At first, they just thought that if some of those transferred, they might’ve just been targeted by monsters here due to their sizes.
However, now that they had more understanding about how their bodies changed even back in Terran, they came to realize it must’ve something to do with aether too.
Getting improved by the system seemed to have a requirement. Other than genetics, it seemed like mass also played a factor. Perhaps the aether injected into bodies simply wasn’t enough to transform the massive bodies of those animals, so they perished along with most of the critters,
The medium-sized animals seemed to have the most chances of survival from the initial transformations. However, so far, there were only a few wild animals that were there.
Other than snow, there were three pandas, another female wolf, two coyotes, three deers, and two bears (one black and one brown).
However, it seemed that intelligence had also been increased in these creatures. As soon as they realized they were in a safe place, their aggressiveness became controlled, and the citizens didn’t have to use their pre-prepared tranquilizer darts.
