Chapter 319: Let’s Just Buy It
In the VIP room, Daniel and Serys exchanged glances and frowned.
"So they really are putting the weapon up for auction," Serys sighed—the worst-case scenario they had been fearing was happening.
"Don’t worry too much. Actually, this might be the best outcome," Daniel explained. "If they hadn’t put it in the auction, we still wouldn’t be sure whether they actually had it. There was a chance it had already been moved elsewhere, and we’d just be wasting time."
"...When you put it like that, you’re right," she nodded.
"Besides, wouldn’t it be better if we just bought it? We’ve got two incredibly powerful backgrounds behind us. I doubt there are many on the continent—maybe even the world—who can compete with us financially."
Serys went silent and thought for a moment. From the start, they had preferred to buy the weapon if possible, instead of resorting to violence.
But when they first arrived in this city and sent Elarion out to gather information, they learned that many extremely wealthy families and factions were expected to attend the auction.
That’s what made them realize that buying the weapon might actually be one of the most difficult options—especially since everyone would instantly recognize the weapon’s value.
Still, now that she thought about it again, combining the financial power of the Central Magic Tower and the Everlight Moon Guild, maybe they really could purchase the weapon, right?
"We’ll give it a try," Serys nodded and used her personal communication talisman to contact her master and report the situation.
She had to ask how much they were allowed to spend.
Daniel did the same, calling Lana.
