Chapter 179: Custody Court II
"Your Honor, I’m their family maid. I’ve been working for them for around seventeen years—since the young lady was born—and in all that time, I’ve never once seen them harm her in the slightest," said Emily, their maid.
Even though Tiana had expected this answer, hearing it still made her feel a bit hurt. Emily was like an aunt to her, and she’d held onto hope that Emily might support her until the very end.
But in the end, it seemed like she was just a servant of the family.
On the other side, Donald frowned slightly. They only had Tiana’s words as evidence, while the other side had multiple witnesses and pieces of testimony.
Still, not everything was against them. They still had a chance.
"Next witness," the judge said after hearing their statements.
"Hello, Your Honor. I’m Robert, the family’s driver, and I’ve also worked for them for around seventeen years. I can say that ever since the young lady was born, Mr. and Mrs. have poured all their love and care into her. I’ve never seen them hurt or even upset her," Robert explained—but there was a kind of sorrow and guilt visible in his eyes.
Even though the others didn’t notice that guilt, the judge did.
"Are you sure about what you’re saying?" the judge asked, pressing him.
Robert didn’t respond right away. He glanced at Tiana first—he could see the pain in that girl’s eyes.
Of course, he was lying. He’d seen firsthand how Klein and Liz mistreated and even exploited their daughter.
