Chapter 146: Rich In Both Worlds
Daniel didn't answer right away. He fell silent, lost in thought.
Legally, the custody of Tiana still belonged to her parents.
They didn't even have any real relation to the girl. He was pretty sure the only reason she was even here was because August had interfered.
But things might not go that smoothly in the official court hearing scheduled for two weeks from now.
"Tiana, you're seventeen now, right? You'll be legally independent next year. Having a custody court for someone your age is just stupid," Daniel sighed.
Tiana nodded. She knew very well how ridiculous such a court case was for someone her age. But the law was the law—unchangeable.
"The only real option is for you to speak in court about the abuse you've gone through. If you do that, there's nothing they can do," Daniel said.
"We've thought about that, too, but… we're scared they might bribe the judge or something like that. Some of their relatives have government positions," Alice said.
"You don't need to worry about that. When it comes to money, trust me—there's no one in this city richer than your brother. As for political influence, I've got that covered too," Daniel laughed.
Thanks to all the gold coins he found in the Endless Spirit Mountains, he was currently filthy rich.
Fortunately, he could sell those coins even in this world and receive Zen for them.
"So we really don't need to worry?" Tiana asked with a spark of hope in her eyes.
