Chapter 136: Becoming A Corrupted Beast?
Daniel sat down on the ground in a cross-legged position and tried to analyze the situation. What exactly had happened to him during this floor?
He tried to go over all the memories from the moment he entered the second floor—the mirrors, and then the illusions.
Neither the reflections of his memories in the mirrors nor the false illusions had really affected his emotions. At least not in any way that mattered.
So what had been happening to his soul all this time? How had his soul become corrupted?
Daniel considered many possibilities, but none of them made any real sense.
"Could it be that all of this was just a distraction?" He gave it some thought—and it actually made a lot of sense.
If seeing those memories and experiencing the illusions were just meant to distract him, then yeah, that tracks. But in that case, what had actually caused his soul to become corrupted?
What had been the real reason all along? He didn't need to think too hard before he found the answer.
It was the air. The air on the second floor. The reason for the corruption was the presence of the corruption aura. As long as any living being was exposed to it, both body and soul would begin to rot—eventually turning into a corrupted beast.
The real purpose of the mirrors and illusions was to keep his mind away from realizing this. And it worked.
He had thought the reason his soul was corrupting was because he had to relive the darkest parts of his life.
"So what should I do now?" He looked at his soul again. The corruption was still spreading fast.
