Chapter 767. Sun Ray Hawk
"What’s with the face?" Dao Su asked upon seeing Amon’s grin. "Don’t expect me to do this experiment for you. I believe Zee Whang feels the same. If we are to do the same thing, might as well work for Hai Di than for a nobody like you, no offense."
Amon snorted. "What happens to what you’ve said? That if I help you with your experiments, you will do whatever I ask?"
"Well, if you truly help me advance my experiments to a satisfying result, I don’t mind conducting Hai Di’s experiment for you."
"Don’t worry. Our deals still stand. You can experiment however you like. I will only ask small favors, for now."
Though Hai Di’s intention would grant immense power if it succeeded, Amon didn’t think it was feasible for him with his current power. The experiments required him to subdue cultivators from the Supreme and Mammoth Stages. This was still too far-fetched for him.

Five days after Dao Su began working on the Great Sun Hawk, his work was completed. Amon observed the Great Sun Hawk.
Its physical appearance had vastly altered. Its upper side was covered with the thick skin of the Sky Ray, providing it with better protection. The skin protection extended to its wings, with the feathery parts remaining on the wings’ lower halves. The feathery tail had been replaced with the Sky Ray’s long, thin, and sharp tail. This tail could slash like a sword or pierce like a spear. The sky ray’s jaws were now framing the hawk’s lower head. The jaws were filled with sharp teeth, enabling it to perform a powerful bite. The pair of tentacles on Sky Ray was transplanted to the crown of its head.
"A masterpiece, if I may say so myself," Dao Su commended himself. "My expert craftsmanship had stimulated this fusion and forced this beast’s potential to rise. From my estimation, this combined body possesses the power of a Higher Mythical Beast."
"Really?" Amon was pleasantly surprised. The Great Sun Hawk was only a Lower Mythical Beast, and the Sky Ray was a Mid Mythical Beast. He didn’t expect the result of their fusion to be a spirit beast stronger than both the original forms. This would put it at the same grade as Yuka and Lin Li.
"Hah! This is a piece of cake for an expert like myself!" Dao Su exclaimed.
Amon wasn’t impressed by Dao Su’s self-boasting. He wanted to check the truth for himself. "Alright. I will call it the Sun Ray Hawk. Let’s wake it up."
"Hold!"
Amon turned to Dao Su and gave him a questioning look.
Dao Su displayed an awkward laugh. "Hehe. Before you wake it up, I prefer to return to your space ring or leave this house first."
When Amon remained staring at him, Dao Su added, "As I said, I can’t be sure how the hawk will react to its changes. I’m confident in the result of its physical alteration. I can’t say the same about its mental state. I prefer to learn about it from a safe distance away, and I suggest you do the same."
Amon pondered for a brief moment. He then told Dao Su, "Wrap up your equipment."
Dao Su didn’t dally. After he was done. Amon grabbed him and sent him back into his room inside the black space ring. After that, Amon activated the Elder God Veil before giving the unconscious Sun Ray Hawk the antidote to the Endless Slumber Poison.
Amon could feel via his mental link with the Sun Ray Hawk that it was slowly waking up. Amon felt a thump. He could feel the hawk’s waking process took a sudden jolt, as if someone who had been shaken awake by a terrible nightmare.
The hawk’s eyes snapped open. Amon could see in its eyes and feel through their mental link its confusion, horror, and shock. It instinctively understood what had happened to it. The revelation had been too sudden that Amon felt that its mind almost broke. It took him a great deal of focus to keep the hawk’s mind from shattering apart.
Even so, it didn’t stop it from lashing out. A powerful jolt of fire and lightning erupted from the Sun Ray Hawk’s body. The two intermingling elements ignited an explosive force. The detonation shook the entire house. Powerful words of power protected the house’s walls. Even so, the detonation caused the walls to crack. All the windows and doors were blown apart. The force of the blast travelled outside via those broken outlets.
As for the inner walls and the furniture, they had all been turned to dust. If Dao Su hadn’t packed up beforehand, he and his equipment would have gone as well.
Amon was protected by his shadow suit. He was not wounded, but he felt the blast. The power the Sun Ray Hawk demonstrated was indeed of the Higher Mythical Beast. Amon estimated its power to be perhaps below Yuka but above Lin Li.
The remaining question was whether he could still control this beast.
The Sun Ray Hawk was still after unleashing the blast. It was still because a struggle was occurring within its mind. This struggle was between its near insane mind and Amon’s forceful hold over its psyche.
With incredible mental power, Amon slowly exerted his will over the Sun Ray Hawk. He convinced his tamed beast that its current body was its natural state and everything was fine. He forcefully brainwashed it by exerting dominion over its mind.
The mental battle lasted for hours. Some faction members came over to investigate the blast. These members knew the house belonged to Amon. When they entered, they saw Amon having a staring contest with the altered beast. Their first impression was that the strange spirit beast had invaded Amon’s residence and was currently fighting Amon. They were puzzled as to why the spirit beast and Amon were motionless. Nevertheless, their instinct was to help their fellow faction member.
Amon couldn’t speak because he was fully concentrating on the Sun Ray Hawk’s mind. Thankfully, Lin Li saw the whole ordeal. She disguised herself as Wi Zhuang and exited the black space ring to warn the faction members not to interfere.
The faction members knew that Amon was a good friend of Wi Zhuang. They dared not disobey the order from a slayer-rank superior. Observing that there was no immediate danger to Amon and the spirit beast showed no hostility, they backed away. Lin Li ordered them to keep watch outside and not to let anyone enter the house. They abided by the order.
Six hours later, Amon finally relaxed his grip on the Sun Ray Hawk’s mind. It moved again, but its movements were clumsy and unbalanced. It wobbled before falling. Though it had calmed down much, its mind remained chaotic.
Amon kept a portion of his mind to retain a mental hold over the Sun Ray Hawk. With that control, he ordered the hawk to enter the black space ring. He sat cross-legged on the floor and resumed moulding the hawk’s mind.
*
A full day passed. Amon called the Sun Ray Hawk out again. The hawk stood silently like a statue. It radiated neither emotion nor thought.
Bo Wu emerged from Amon’s arm, laughing mockingly. "Congratulations. You broke the poor thing. Hehe."
Amon ignored it. He called Dao Su out to inspect the Sun Ray Hawk. Dao Su was at first reluctant to approach the beast. Only after Amon’s repeated requests, with the last one bordering on a threat, did Dao Su finally move towards the hawk.
His worry evaporated with each step and was soon replaced by genuine interest.
"Mm..." Dao Su circled the beast and touched it at various spots. A minute later, he gave Amon his assessment, "I think you have broken its mind."
Bo Wu laughed loudly. "Hahaha! What did I tell you?"
"Really? I can still control it," Amon said. He issued a command through his mental link with the Sun Ray Hawk. It spread its wings and flapped, producing a powerful gust of wind.
Dao Su had difficulty keeping his balance. "Stop that!" He exclaimed. "I never said that it is broken, I said its mind is. Whatever you have done, you have erased its personality. It is now as if a blank canvas. It will do whatever command it receives. Since it is mentally linked to you, that means you get to give the commands."
"In other words, it is now no different than a battle puppet, aside from it being biological." Amon grinned. A minion that obeyed his every command without question. He preferred it this way.
"Tch, I know that evil grin. You are truly a heartless man," Bo Wu remarked.
"You have no right to criticize me, or maybe you want to volunteer your soul to be transferred to that hawk? Getting a real body is better than being confined to my arm, don’t you say?"
"Hah! The one who imprinted my soul on you is Hai Di. Do not think you can get rid of me that easily."
"Really? Dao Su, how about you see if you can transfer the soul of this hell beast?"
Dao Su walked over with palpable interest. "Sure, let me–"
"Don’t you dare touch my soul!" Bo Wu emerged abruptly with a wide, open mouth. It attempted to bite Dao Su."
Dao Su jumped back in surprise, but Bo Wu failed to touch Dao Su. Amon asserted his will and dragged the hell beast back into his arm.
"Grr...," Bo Wu growled. "Don’t you think you have won. I will learn how you perform this trick and break it!"
