Ch. 152 - Cultural Festival Latter Half 12 - Aoi's Presentation 2

“...The magic just now is a type of lightning magic that excels in destructive power. If we were to classify it, it would be a special grade. The good thing about this magic is that it travels at a speed faster than the wind. Also, since it pierces through and damages both living things and metals, it can defeat almost any magical beast with a single blow. However, if you don't properly give it directionality, it will indiscriminately pour down on places that easily conduct electricity. Considering these things, anyone who wants to use this magic should practice in a deserted sea or desert, okay?”

I gave that explanation, but many of the people gathered at the venue were still slumped down. Giving up, I prepared the next magic. It was just right, the sky was gradually darkening.

"Well then, I will present the next magic. This one will also make a slightly loud sound, but there is no danger, so please rest assured."

After a simple introduction, I lightly flexed my fingers on both hands and brought my hands in front of my chest. Spreading my fingers wide, my preparation was complete.

I focused magic power on my fingertips and created a flow of magic power in front of my palms. Then, using the other hand, I took out several small ore pieces from a leather bag I had lowered to my waist. They were about the size of granulated sugar. I gently threw the ore pieces into the flow of magic power.

Five ore pieces of the same color danced, swirling in front of my palms. The eyes of the people watching followed the ore pieces, turning in circles.

Confirming that enough magic power had been kneaded, I raised my arm while turning my palm towards the sky. While sucking in and gathering wind, the mass of magic containing the ore pieces was launched into the sky.

It reached a sufficient height. After confirming that, I opened my mouth.

“...Magic Fireworks, Magi Firework.”

The moment I spoke the name of the magic, an explosive sound that seemed to resonate in the stomach echoed in the air. And then, a giant golden firework brightly colored the darkening sky.

Even though it was high in the sky, the people who had seen a giant firework for the first time were surprised with wide eyes.

I had developed this aiming for the same size as the one-shaku ball* firework I had seen before, and I think it turned out quite well. The ore pieces that exploded in the air were pulverized by the kneaded magic power, and spread out while causing a flame reaction. The problem was how far to spread it over a wide area using fire and wind magic, but I solved that by exploding it once at the center.

When I thought about it, it was the same concept as normal fireworks, but when I came up with the idea, I was happy thinking it was an amazing invention. It's a small, dark history.

"Wow!"

"Beautiful!"

I heard children's voices, and returned my gaze to the ground. Most of the people gathered were looking at the sky with sparkling eyes. It seemed they were happy. Gently smiling, I prepared for magic fireworks again.

I kneaded magic power, selected the ore pieces, and launched them into the sky.

An intense explosion echoed in the darkened sky, and this time it dyed the night sky bright blue. The beautiful blue fireworks made the cheers of the audience even louder.

"I'm going to keep going!"

It was becoming fun. Thinking that, I prepared for the next stage.

I created a stone platform in front of me, and placed several ore pieces on it. I put both hands in front and kneaded magic power right above the platform. And then, I lightly picked up the ore pieces and launched them into the sky.

I raised my arms, right hand, then left hand, and opened my mouth.

"Magic Fireworks, Magi Firework."

As I spoke the name of the magic, explosions echoed in the sky in succession. Two giant fireworks dyed the sky golden. Furthermore, I used the magic in order, right hand, then left hand.

A continuous series of colorful fireworks unfolded in the sky. Not just red, blue, and yellow, but also green and purple fireworks bloomed in the night sky. By that time, the people who had gathered to watch had gotten used to the sound, and were honestly cheering and happy.

Everyone was looking at the sky, pointing at the fireworks, and laughing. Just looking at that scene made me feel happy, but the fireworks were about to end soon.

For the finale, let’s make a huge firework using all the remaining ore pieces.

"...Well then, this is the final magic."

No one probably heard me, but I announced that and prepared for the final magic. Using twenty-some ore pieces, I put a large amount of magic power into both hands for the last one.

I launched them into the sky with force, and consciously made the ore pieces as scattered as possible.

Perhaps they felt that the atmosphere was different from before as they saw the ore pieces being launched with tremendous speed. The people gathered at the venue quietly watched the sky, waiting for the magic to be activated.

And then, the final firework bloomed in the night sky. A huge golden firework equivalent to a three-shaku balls and four-shaku balls spread across the entire sky, and immediately, the various ore pieces scattered around created colorful small fireworks.

It was a pattern that was common in the fireworks I had seen in Japan, but it was very difficult to reproduce it with magic. Meticulous magic power control, and the positional adjustments of the ore fragments that were scattered at an unseen height.

Furthermore, if I did it carelessly and the ore fragments rained down on the ground, it would be a disaster. Therefore, I had to be careful to not crush the ore pieces while making sure they turned into fine powder.

However, if all of those were done accurately, this is the result you would see. The grand fireworks that colored the sky and the numerous small fireworks. That scene could truly be called a fleeting moment of art.

The sparks faded away, and the sky returned to the dark night. Looking around at the people who were reluctantly gazing at that sight, I bowed deeply.

“...With this, I will end the final presentation of the Fiddiq Academy’s cultural festival. Thank you for watching.”

When I said that and raised my face, someone was the first to loudly clap. Lured by that, the eyes of the people returned from the sky to the ground.

"It was a wonderful presentation!"

When Middleton gave his feedback in a clear voice, applause and cheers spread throughout the venue all at once. Receiving the great cheers and thunderous applause all over my body, I bowed deeply once again.
