Transferred to Another World and Became a Teacher

Ch. 145 - Cultural Festival Latter Half 5 - King Grandsands

Because I was curious about Gaia's information, I decided to quickly go and check things out. Apparently, King Grandsands was in the venue near the main gate.

Using flying magic, I went to the scene in less than a minute, and there was such a crowd of people that it was hard to find a place to land. There was something like a stage set up at the venue, and about ten dwarves were lined up on top, doing something.

Since there was no choice, I observed from the sky and noticed that King Grandsands himself was also standing on the stage.

"Alright, alright! Next up is this one! Look at this magnificent blade! Furthermore, look at the detailed decorations on the hilt and sheath! You can see that it has enough value just as a decoration! But, its true worth isn't that!"

When one dwarf said that, another dwarf nodded and stepped forward.

"To become a first-rate dwarven blacksmiths, fire magic is essential! My magic can light the embers of a furnace that can melt iron or mithril like water!"

After such a preamble, the dwarf created a ball of fire after a long chant. It wasn't very big, but the people watching were cheering. Perhaps they felt it had considerable heat.

However, as far as I could tell from what they were saying, though the furnace was amazing, their magic didn't seem that special.

While I was watching with scepticism, the dwarf who had created the fire turned to the dwarf who was holding the sword.

"I'm going to attack him now! If things go wrong, the fire might melt the sword and him as well! Everyone, watch carefully!"

And with that, he made a declaration that he was going to do something dangerous. The audience obediently became tense and worried about the safety of the person who might be hit by the fire.

Then, the ball of fire was released.

"Here I gooooo!"

Along with the shout, the ball of fire was shot towards the sword held by the man. Accompanied by a red light, the fire approached the dwarf holding the sword.

"Hmph!"

With a manly cry, the dwarf vigorously swung the sword down from above. Then, the ball of fire was sliced in half, scattered, and disappeared.

The audience let out a loud cheer at the sight.

"...Oh."

Unconsciously, I was also impressed. I had seen magic being blocked by a shield before, but I had never seen it cut apart by a sword. I could also recreate the same thing myself, but it seemed like the meaning was different from what I would do.

I became a bit interested in that sword.

"...Oh, no, that's not right. This isn't the time for that."

I almost got distracted by the new tool. While disciplining myself, I began to think about how to stop this demonstration sale.

"If King Grandsands got permission to sell it properly, then I can't complain... Huh?"

While I was wondering what to do, King Grandsands stepped forward.

"King Grandsands! This sword also seems to be quite popular! Please, in order to show the power of the dwarves, allow us to sell it!"

The dwarf who released the magic purposely made a petition to King Grandsands in front of everyone. Then, King Grandsands also acted as if he was troubled.

"...It's good to let people know how skilled the dwarven blacksmiths are. However, this sword has the power to be treated as a national treasure in a small country. I can't sell it easily."

And with that, he started to hesitate to sell the sword. The audience started to voice their discontent. Since coming to this world, there haven't been many people who showed such an attitude toward royalty and nobles, but it seemed like the demonstration sales had created a very casual atmosphere.

After confirming that everyone was voicing their discontent, one of the dwarves knelt on the floor and lowered his head.

"Your Majesty! Being able to meet the people's expectations is the sign of a great ruler! Here, let us show everyone Your Majesty’s great generosity!"

"Mmm, mmm, mmm..."

At his vassal's desperate petition, King Grandsands crossed his arms and pondered. Then, the audience members shouted "Your Majesty!" with shining eyes.

"O-okay, okay! I'll allow the sale!"

He finally caved in. With such an attitude, King Grandsands permitted the sale of the sword. In response, the dwarves and the audience members all cheered loudly.

"Then, Your Majesty! Ten gold coins will be fine, right!"

"W-what!? At that price... ah, fine! Do as you please!"

As if piling on, one of the dwarves confirmed the price. King Grandsands looked like he panicked, but immediately turned away and agreed. Suddenly, one of the audience members raised their hand and shouted, "I'll buy it!" The audience members were shocked by that fact.

A gold coin was a huge amount of money, easily exceeding a merchant's annual income. Was the person who raised their hand a noble or a wealthy person like the head of a large merchant company? Such speculations rose from everywhere.

At that moment, several hands went up in other parts of the venue.

"I-I'll buy it!"

"Me! I'll buy it!"

Several people shouted their orders in a flustered manner. One of them was clearly a noble-looking man. Seeing that several people had announced their intention to buy at the same time, the dwarf who had used magic smiled quietly.

"Wow, so many people are interested! But, this sword is said to be so powerful that nothing can resist it if used by the strongest swordsman... and there's only one. What should we do..."

At the sight of the dwarf, who was troubled while looking up at the sky, the noble-looking man raised one hand.

"Double it! I'll buy it for double the price!"

At those words, the other potential buyers fell silent. Twenty gold coins. It was an unbelievably large sum of money.

However, I was more interested in its performance than the amount of money.

"Excuse me for a moment."

After saying that, I landed on the stage. While feeling everyone's gaze gathering on me, I bowed to King Grandsands.

"I heard that sword can cut through anything. I’d very much like to see it..."

When I said that and raised my face, my eyes met with King Grandsands, who had a strained expression.
