She believes that Qin Zhiyou would treat their daughter well, and if he didn’t say anything, there must be reasons he kept silent.
Lu’s mother was pruning flowers in the yard when she got the call. She lived on the ground floor, and there were already a few flower and grass plants in the yard. Lu Weixi had asked her to plant flowers, and specifically mentioned that when the flowers bloomed, they would take a family photo with the children.
"Xixi, she had a bit of an incident a few days ago. She’s now in the hospital; I’m by her side, and it looks like the baby might come early." Qin Zhiyou only conveyed the most straightforward facts to Lu’s mother, omitting all the dangerous details in-between.
As Lu’s mother was cutting flower branches, she accidentally snipped off a large bud.
In fact, she had already guessed it. Although her daughter was not one to cling to people, she would have made things clear if she went out for a few days, even if she didn’t call home, at the very least.
In these past few days, her daughter hadn’t said a word, and everything carried on as arranged the day she left; the caregiver wasn’t changed, and the housekeeping went on as usual. Even though she knew from watching TV that Hanhai was facing difficulties, Lu Weixi knew nothing about business affairs. Putting her in charge of the company would be useless and would only distract Qin Zhiyou.
The only possibility was that she simply couldn’t come back.
Although she didn’t consider the possibility of a kidnapping or something of the sort, she had indeed started to suspect something of that nature.
