She set down her small bag and headed straight to the door. Qin Zhiyou stood motionless, but as she passed by, he suddenly reached out, grabbing her arm.

After much deliberation, he had enlisted Xiaochen and Secretary Wang as intermediaries. If it had been just Secretary Wang delivering the message, perhaps Lu Weixi might not have responded at all. But with Xiaochen involved, she would at least reply a sentence or two and not act as if she didn’t recognize him.
