Chapter 1: Where Is My system!?
It was past 2:00 AM when Rin hurriedly pedaled along a moonlit highway . The road was pitch-black, save for the faint glow of the full moon. His breath was steady, but something about the stillness made his skin crawl.
"Damn. Didn’t expect to lose track of time playing Dota. Grandma’s probably waiting with the Belt of Destruction."
Rin, nineteen, wore crumpled school clothes and thick glasses—nerd certified. His life revolved around anime, novels, and online games. Time had vanished with his friends in a café, shouting at screens, plotting flashy combos, chasing fleeting glory.
He sighed. "Next time, I’m saying no to Jim’s invites. What am I even doing with my life?"
Regret flickered across his face. Grandma’s scoldings weren’t just noise—they carried weight. She raised him after his parents left him behind, each for their new families. She was his anchor, his home.
A sudden jolt snapped him from thought. A massive reticulated python slithered across the highway—thick, glistening, and impossibly long. Its belly bulged suspiciously.
"Oh crap!"
His tire struck the snake. In a blur, his bike flipped, launching him into the air. He slammed onto the asphalt with bone-jarring force. Groaning, Rin tried to rise—but searing pain screamed from his leg and arm.
The python hissed. It approached, coils tightening.
"No, no, no..."
He crawled backward, blood trickling down his face, but the snake struck—sinking fangs into his thigh. Pain erupted.
