Chapter 83: Leveling up
Rina held the broom tightly and swept the front of her bakery, her silver ring catching the morning light. She tapped it like a habit now.

She blinked. "Did that just—?" Her heart skipped.
She tapped it again, and yes, the number had changed. "I just leveled up," she whispered.
A small smile tugged at her lips. It wasn't a battle or spell. It was just sweeping. But it meant something. Every small thing mattered here.
Out by the fields, a teenage boy named Luken was planting spring onions with calloused hands. Dirt covered his arms and sweat dripped down his nose. He didn't even think about the ring until it pulsed faintly on his finger.
He wiped it with his shirt and stared.

"Whoa," he muttered.
An older goblin nearby chuckled. "Welcome to the grind," he said. "The land rewards the stubborn."
