Chapter 57: The Night School
The stars blinked quietly over the village. Soft wind moved through the trees, carrying the scent of smoke and fresh soil. Everyone had gone to sleep hours ago.
Everyone except Caelen.
He sat alone outside the town hall, arms resting on his knees, staring into the sky. The faint hum of night bugs surrounded him.
He couldn't sleep.
Too many thoughts ran through his head.
"School," he whispered.
The word felt strange in this world. No one even knew what it meant. But after Zira interviewed the goblins earlier, it was clear—most of them couldn't read or write. Even she barely understood what a school was.
He stood up slowly.
"I'll just make it now," he muttered. "Why wait?"
Quietly, he made his way to the open field on the edge of the village. It was empty, unused, perfect.
With a wave of his hand, he summoned his system.
